Well, I bought this 1.5 mounths ago and it gives sharp photos and video during shooting at various places.

It's been a good experience with this Camera. I have used it for our Zoom conferences and streaming events. The quality of the video is great.

I bought the AX 700 mainly because I wanted a 4K Camcorder which is compatible with my existing accessories for the CX900 I have since 2014. I'm fully convinced of te AX700 performance. The image stabilizer works awesome and the handling of the camcorder is easy. I like the many possibilities to make manual settings; so I'm able to control the exposure values perfectly. All in all I'm happy with this camcorder!

When the telephoto stopped working on my Sony 106E in July 2021 after 11 years heavy use, I decided to go for a higher spec Sony camcorder as a replacement and selected the FDR-AX700. Due to Covid restrictions I haven't been able to use it as much as I would have liked, but am very satisfied with the results so far. It is so simple to use and the menu system is much simpler than on many other camcorders I've seen. I look forward to experimenting with the options over the coming months. My only criticism is that the mic is very sensitive to wind noise.

Good camera- Image quality, build etc., all good The Problems: 1) If you use a Mac, there's no way to connect the camera to your computer to transfer files, you need to remove the SD card every time. I was on with Sony customer service for 30 minutes, downloading apps, waiting for the agent to do more research... 30 minutes of my life wasted and then the rep says "Yea, I knew none of this would work" Thanks. 2) No Hardware/software updates in 3 years!? Basically saying "You've just spent a bunch of money on the camera and now that we have your money, now your on your own..." 3) The Select/Control button is way too SMALL! If you don't have small, delicate fingers, you're very likely going to be mis-selecting and re-navigating multiple times before you get to your menu selection. 4) Apparently this camera is very particular about what external mics you can use. Use one that's not supported (Surprise, it's only Sony) and expect less than optimal sound.

This product is good. The videocam can be used both indoors and outdoors and clarity is there.

Delighted with the camcorder - it's slightly larger and heavier than I had imagined but the picture quality (and possibilities it opens up for creativity) are just what I wanted. I do have a few negatives though: 1) For a premium prosumer camcorder, I would have expected a manual included. Personally, I find it very disappointing when the few pages of instructions included refer you to an online site for the 'e-manual'. That was a big disappointment for me. 2) The joystick is a bit too small for east navigation of menus and has a tendency to scroll too quickly for my liking, meaning you often overshoot the option you want to find. 3) The rather tatty software which you need to download from Sony to grab the video files from the CF card(s) and move across to your PC is called 'PlayMemories Home'. It works alright i.e. it is nothing special, but (am I being picky here?) the name of the software makes it sound like something you'd get with a dirt cheap camcorder for £50 from ebay! Why couldn't Sony have called it something like 'AX-700 file importer' or something that sounds a bit more grown up...? Software and manual gripes aside, it's a splendid bit of kit that I'm loving.

I purchased the FDR-AX700 in April of 2020, I already own 2 FDR-AX100s, one AX53, one AX33 and one Mirrorless A6400. I love the build of the AX700 it has become my #1 camcorder. I do multi-camera shooting and the picture quality and consistancy from one model to the next. Most of my shoots are indoors so low light is always a challenge but the AX700 tackles the job.

I've bought Sony camcorders since 2011 when I migrated to HD from DV tape. Videography is only a hobby and my annual output may only be a couple of stage shows and some family or friend's weddings, for which I don't charge, but I take pride in delivering the best quality I can. The AX700 is an excellent addition with first class picture quality, ease of use and with features only seen on much more expensive cameras of 6 or seven years ago. Shooting in 4K allows for cropping yet retaining quality in HD projects and budget film makers will benefit from shooting in S-log. Stabilisation is adequate but no match for the BOSS on the AX33 and AX53. With this camera bridging a gap between top end Prosumer/entry level Professional it suits me very well as this model retains a still picture mode that the designated professional siblings do not. I'm delighted to have indulged myself in its acquisition and look forward to giving it a serious workout when the Covid crisis recedes.

As the title says, I am very please with the FDR-AX700 4K HDR camera. It doesn’t take long to get up and running taking videos in 4K which look excellent on my big Sony television. The slow and quick motion is a great feature which I expect to use to add something different to my movies. The camera is compact for what it does and I find it fits in my hand beautifully and all the controls I need are easy to reach. The zoom is also a great feature. In summary, a great purchase.

Exchanged for my canon VIXIA HFG50 for this camera. Good picture quality. Hopefully will not disappoint me. Just getting to know it deeper.

I bought this camcorder 2 weeks ago and to date it has fulfilled all the high expectations I had of it.

I'm very pleased with my purchase. I'm a still photographer entering the video area. The camera controls are easy to master to anyone used to menus on DSLR's I wanted a camcorder which is light but with a good sized sensor and manual controls to produce good 4k video, the AX700 fits the bill..

The Sony ax700 produces excellent quality footage with a great zoom, its small and light, the drawbacks are with the menu controls which are very fiddly, also the slow motion I find almost useless as it don't show you what your filming like modern cameras even camera phones, it uses old software and has to process for 3 minutes where you don't know what your filming.

Not very complicated, and there is plenty of help online to choose from. Great to further one's understanding of Video recorders, and has slow, and fast motion along with night shot. There is also available lens'

I think this Camcorder is easy to use. It has lots of useful features like ND filter and manual Zoom ring. I like the video quality. I am very pleased so far with the product.

I am an experienced videographer and have used lots of cameras and camcorders. This is excellent for me because it allows you to use manual features easily and quickly. Auto setting is so good too. I love it! Quality superb. Physically, a little bit wide at first sight but so comfortable and not too heavy. Really pleased.

I have only had this camera for a few days. Such good quality for a small camera. Excellent features giving it a professional touch. My only issue is with the ‘joystick button ‘ near the record button. It is a bit fiddly using this to select menu options. Just a minor matter. Overall I am pleased with it.

This is my second Sony camcorder and I am really thrilled using it. It's only two weeks since I bought it but so far I am impressed with the results straight out of the box. I have now started using the manual mode and the results are mind blowing, very professional.

Lovely camera - produces excellent videos. Looking forward to getting out and about with it.

I've only had this FDR-AX700 camcorder a few days, so it's still a bit of a steep learning curve. But what I've taken so far (mostly in low light) has been stunning. I've found the best setting for me is 1080p at 50fps, which still produces very sharp video images, but with much smoother results. The advantage of 50fps is that I can slow the video down a bit in places where I want the video to linger a bit. My only criticism of the camera would be that I find the menu and menu toggle buttons a little awkward to use. Although I've re-assigned the menu button to the stills photo button, and that has helped quite a lot. But apart from those minor niggles, the camcorder is an absolute gem.

I bought this camcorder about 3 weeks ago and pleased with the overall appearance and how easy it is to handle. I have yet to use this camcorder to it's full capacity but look forward to seeing the results.

I was pleased with my two AX33's. I was very pleased with my AX53. And I am delighted with my new AX700, which I have had now for six weeks or so. There is just one thing I wish was different (in all four) and that is only because I always shoot with at least two at the same time and sometimes all four. I really wish Sony would make it possible to change the "DSC_ " portion of the file names produced by each camera. If I could just change those to different values, such as CAM1, CAM2, etc then I would be able to offload all four cameras to the same folder. I also, by the way, use a Nikon still camera and it DOES allow me to make this change. It seems like it would be an easy thing to change.

I bought it about 5 months back and is using it for mostly for making travel videos. The weight and size factor is a great plus, love the manual options for exposure and focussing ( since I shoot mostly manual ). I hope that Sony would be able to provide a software upgrade for 10bit output....that would be a feather in the cap of this excellent camcorder

Really excited by the manual features but slightly disapointed by the image stabilization

I made the error of trusting that Sony would appreciate the value of the one button switch from Video to Still Photo, as well as the built in flash, that were built into previous camcorder models. The FDR-AX700 requires six steps within a drop down box to move from Video to Still, then not only is there no built in flash, there are no external flashes that are even compatible. My error in research, in combination with what I believe to be faulty market research, means that, in my opinion, this camcorder design is not well suited for any busy family trying to quickly capture various modes of sporting events, school dances, amusement parks, etc.

Upon opening the box I was suprised at the size, it is the length I was expecting but it is a lot fatter, making it wider than other camcorders I have used. The weight is less than I was expecting and it should not be a problem to hand hold for long periods. The lens is amazing with outstanding clarity and brightness and a massive zoom even before you get into digital degradation. Video quality again is outstanding even on full auto but with all the pro tweaks it is broadcast quality. The new menu system is a little better with a little joystick to navigate, the touch screen functionality seems to have been reduced to very little. The microphone is OK but an external one would be better. Then we get into the stills which are fixed at a very compressed jpeg and sadly ruined by the compression, why did sony not allow for raw shooting which the sensor obviously can manage!!!

Slightly too large, does Sony think we need to see something substantive for our money? Slo motion could with auto-focus rather than manual. Stabilisation is ok but not when walking and videoing, how come my gopro Session5 can do that in the software? Needs a dedicated photo button rather than programming one to do it. Also, to toggle between 4k to 1080p ( to do slo mo for instance ) means going into the menu and toggling features, why not just have a slide selector on the outside to do this? eg. the ND filters work well for this.

Bought it but sent it back. Why? Despite of superb colours and superb sharpness, I saw on different places in the footage irritating glittering. The same problem with my AXP33 and I saw on Youtube the same issue. The other problem was maybe only the camara which I ordered, but the hinge fastening of the screen was very weak. Put the camcorder in your fotobag and the camera goes automaticly on, so the battery is empty before you know it. The screen did not close properly. The coil spring was too weak to close it tight to the body of the camera. Rotate the camera to the left side and the screen came off the body and the camera was active on. Are there other owners who has this problem?

love this camera small with fantastic picture quality

I bought the ax700 as an upgrade to the already brilliant ax53 camcorder and really pleased with the initial results. Excellent manual controls and stunning 4k picture quality. The hybrid autofocus is excellent. Now awaiting for the release of the Rx100 mark 6 (hopefully with a longer reach) to compliment my line up. Brilliant camcorder!

Owning 7 FDR-AX100's I know all ins and outs of that cam. Now I bought an FDR-AX700 and am very pleased with it. The grip has improved tremendously and the autofocus is very good and fast (the only disadvantage of the AX100 is the slow autofocus after a theater-blackout). The menu is now the same as the pro-line (like the PXW-X70), witch is a good thing. I'm so pleased with the AX700 that I buy another one tomorrow.

Had a chance to try it. Feels very solid, and above all very ergonomic, just like it's predecessor. Loved the quality in low light.

I bought and I'm totally satisfied with the fdr ax100, it's so sad that almost 3 years later Sony won't improve this line to 4K 60p, I'll stick to my old hardware
