Watching a 3D Movie on Your Android TV

    Before You Start

    To enjoy 3D movies on your Android TV you will need the following:

    • An Android TV that supports 3D format
      • >If you have a 4K TV, a 3D signal won't display if the TV receives a 4K signal.
    • A 3D Blu-ray disc or 3D content
    • Compatible 3D glasses
      • Passive or Active 3D Glasses (What's the difference?)
      • Check your TV manual to confirm if the glasses are supplied or can be purchased as an optional accessory.

     

    Preparing 3D glasses

    • For models supporting the Passive 3D Glasses
      You can enjoy your 3D contents by just wearing the glasses.

    • >For models supporting the Active 3D Glasses

      When using the 3D Glasses for the first time, registration of the Active 3D Glasses to the TV is required. Follow the steps below.
      NOTE: Once the registration is complete, you can enjoy your 3D contents by turning on the power on your glasses.

    1. Remove the battery's insulation sheet from the glasses.

    2. Hold the glasses within 50 cm (1.6 ft.) from the TV.
    3. Press and hold the power button(Power) button/indicator on the glasses for 2 seconds.

    4. The glasses will turn on and registration will start. The power button(Power) button/indicator blinks green and yellow during registration.
    5. When registration finishes, a message will appear on the TV screen for 5 seconds, and the power button(Power) button/indicator lights up in green for three seconds.

     

    Watching a 3D Movie

    Now that you have checked the settings, you are ready to enjoy your 3D movies!

    1. Play the 3D content on the TV.
    2. Put on the 3D glasses.
      • If you have passive 3D glasses, just put them on.
      • If you have active 3D glasses, turn the power on, and they are ready to be used.

    Troubleshooting

    NOTE: The steps may vary depending on your Android operating system. Check your product manual if model-specific instructions are needed for any step.

    • If the picture doesn't display 3D, check the following:
      1. On your remote control, press the ACTION MENU button.
      2. Select 3D.
      3. Select the 3D display mode that suits the movie.
        • You may not be able to select 3D (Side by Side) or 3D (Over-Under) depending on the input signal or format.
    • If you have active 3D glasses, check the following:
      • When the battery level is low, the power button or indicator will blink green three times every two seconds. Replace the battery if this happens.
      • If the 3D images are unstable, it may be due to radio interference between the active 3D glasses and other wireless devices nearby. To improve the situation, try to turn off the other wireless devices or keep them at a distance away from the TV and active 3D glasses.
      • Make sure you have set the Bluetooth settings on your TV.

        Follow these steps for Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS:

        1. Press the HOME button.
        2. Select Settings.
        3. Select Network & Accessories.
        4. Under the Network & Accessories category, select Bluetooth settings.
        5. Under the Bluetooth settings, select Bluetooth.

        6. Select On.
    • Check whether your TV supports 3D display

      Follow these steps for Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS:

      1. On your TV remote control, press the HOME button.
      2. Select Settings.
      3. Select Picture & Display.
      4. Under Picture & Display, select 3D settings.

      5. Select 3D Display.
      6. Select On.
    • If you have a Sony 3D capable Blu-ray Disc player, check the 3D Output Setting:
      1. Press the HOME button.
      2. Select Setup.
      3. Select Screen Settings.
      4. Select 3D Output Setting.
      5. Select Auto.
        • You can't view 3D still pictures taken from a camera and using a .mpo file format on 3D capable Android TVs.
    • Check whether your TV supports the 3D output signal of the output device.
      1. Press the HOME button.
      2. Select Settings.
      3. Select TV.
      4. Select Picture & Display.
      5. Select 3D settings.
      6. Select 3D signal notification.
      7. Under 3D signal notification, select On.
        • When your TV recognized the 3D content, a message, 3D signal has been detected, will appear.
    • Other ways to figure out if your TV recognizes the 3D signal from the output device:
      1. Press the HOME button.
      2. Select Settings.
      3. Select TV.
      4. Select Picture & Display.
      5. Select 3D settings.
      6. Select 3D display.
        • On displays below 3D display if the movie is in 3D format.
