How do I seal the USB Type-C cover to avoid liquid damage of the WI-SP510?
IMPORTANT: This article applies only to specific products and/or operating systems. Check the Applicable Products and Categories section of this article before starting these steps.
The WI-SP510 has an IPX5 rating, which means it’s protected against splashes and sweat, making it ideal for working out. To maintain this IPX5 rating and keep moisture or liquid from damaging the headphones, the USB Type-C port needs to be covered correctly. If the lid is not tightly secured, liquid might enter the device, causing failures, charging issues, no power, and generally damaging your headphones.
How to secure the lid of the USB Type-C port
Tightly close the tip of the lid (1) first, and then tightly close the other side (2). This will prevent moisture such as sweat from entering.
As you can see on the image below, you should check if the lid completely covers the USB Type-C port. If a corner is left unsealed, liquids could find its way into the headphones.
NOTES:
- Make sure the USB Type-C port lid is tightly closed before the headset is exposed to moisture or liquid
- The USB Type-C port lid must be completely closed to maintain water resistant performance in accordance with the IPX5 in IEC standards
- Charging the USB Type-C port with moisture or liquid remaining in the area may corrode the port and cause fire, smoke, electrical shock, or other malfunctions
- If the USB Type-C port should corrode and require service, it is considered out of warranty
Below is an example of liquid damage to the USB Type-C port.
