How to reset or initialize a camera back to original factory settings

1. Locate the RESET button on the camera.
   Note: Only some models have a RESET button. Refer to the manual supplied with your camera to determine whether it has a RESET button or to identify the location of the RESET button.  Manuals are posted on your model support page.
2. Turn on the power of the camera.
3. Use a pointed object (like a ballpoint pen) to press and hold the RESET button with a pointed object, such as a ballpoint pen, for 2 to 3 seconds, then release the button. 

1. The menu layout is different between cameras, so check the operating instructions. In general, there will be a Initialize or Reset section within the menus of the camera.
2. Depending on your camera:
   • Select MENU → Settings → Initialize → OK
   • Select MENU → Setup → Initialize →  Reset Default or Factory Reset
   • Select MENU → Setup → Navigate to Setting Reset → Camera Settings Reset or Initialize

3. After the camera reboots, the time and date settings menu will be displayed. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the initial settings.
4. Some cameras allow the resetting or initializing of different options such as wireless settings, the settings used in taking the last picture or all settings. Be sure to look at all available options in the product manual.
5. Notes:

   • If you want to reset just the shooting settings, do not select Initialize. Instead, select Camera Settings Reset or REC Settings.

NOTES:

• Cameras manufactured before the year 2000 do not have a Reset button or the Initialize or Reset option(s) in the menu.
• For older cameras that have built-in battery, holding down the POWER button for up to 30 seconds may initialize or reset the camera.
• The following procedure is also known as manual reset.

1. Power off the camera.
2. Remove the battery pack.
3. Remove the button-sized lithium battery.
4. Allow the camera to remain without power for 30 seconds.
5. Reinsert the button-sized lithium battery.
6. Reinsert the battery pack.
7. Power on the camera.
