Phase-detection AF support for A-mount lenses.
IMPORTANT: A firmware update (Ver.2.0) of the camera is required for using Phase Detection AF.
The ILCE-7M2 offers Phase Detection AF that provides better AF response compared to conventional Contrast AF, even when using an A-mount lens connected via adaptor LA-EA3 or LA-EA1 that is not equipped with a dedicated phase-detection AF system. As a result, wider AF coverage area, higher number and higher density of AF points can be used.
NOTES:
- Fast Hybrid AF is not supported when using Contrast AF
- Full-frame shooting is not possible with the LA-EA1/LA-EA2 (shooting becomes equivalent to using APS-C size image sensor).

NOTES:
- The phase-detection AF coverage area and the number of used AF points differ, depending on the mounted lens and image format. For details, see Focal-plane Phase Detection AF coverage and number of AF points used, with respect to a type of mounted lens.
- Some functions may not be available depending on the mounted lens. Refer to the lens compatibility information for details.
