The image taken when using flash is too dark.

If the subject is beyond the flash range (the distance that the flash can reach), the pictures will be dark because the flash light cannot reach the subject. If you change the ISO, the flash range also changes.

If your camera is equipped with a shoe for accessories, note that optional flash units have more power and enable greater flash ranges.

If you believe you should not need to use an external light source for the environment you're taking pictures in, or your pictures are dark or discolored even when using the flash and external lighting, follow this procedure to troubleshoot.

IMPORTANT: Depending on the model, some of the settings listed below may not be available. If model-specific information is required to complete any of the steps in this solution, refer to the operating instructions supplied with the product.

1. Make sure the camera is not set to a picture effect mode.
2. Adjust the white balance setting of the camera.
3. Adjust the exposure value setting of the camera.
4. Adjust the flash level.
5. Adjust the ISO setting.
6. Clean the outside of the camera lens.
7. If the issue only occurs when the image is viewed on the computer, follow the procedure below to troubleshoot this issue.
   1. Increase the brightness level of the computer monitor.
   2. Increase the image brightness using installed photo editing software on the computer.
   3. Calibrate the computer monitor using color calibration software.

The troubleshooting steps listed above should resolve your issue. If you have completed all of the steps and the issue is not resolved, service may be required.
