Preparation

Your firmware may already be up to date, especially if you have a new Blu-ray player model. If the version number is M32.R.0527 or higher, you do not need to update.

If you're not sure, it's easy to check which version of firmware you have:

  1. Turn on your TV and check it's tuned to the input your Blu-ray player is connected to, so if the player is connected to the HDMI2 socket, choose HDMI2 as the input
  2. Turn on the Blu-ray player. If it starts to play a disc, press STOP and wait until you see the [Home Screen] menu
  3. At the [Home Screen], highlight Setup > System Settings then select ENTER using the arrow keys on the remote control
  4. Highlight System Information and select ENTER
  5. On the TV screen, the firmware version number looks like this:
    "Software Version M32.R.xxxx" - if the version number is M32.R.0527 or higher, you already have the most recent firmware version.

Updating your BDP-S6700 over the Internet

We recommend this method as it's the simplest way to update. It usually takes about 15-30 minutes. First set up the equipment, then download the update over the internet to your Blu-ray player.

What you need:

  • An active internet connection (using Ethernet cable or wireless router)
  • A compatible TV

How to make sure the update goes smoothly

Updating is usually very simple. Here's how you can make sure it goes right first time:

  • Read the instructions carefully or you could end up damaging your Blu-ray player
  • Don't turn the Blu-ray player off - or disconnect it from the power - while it's updating
  • Don't press any buttons, except the ones mentioned in the instructions

Set up the equipment:

  1. Turn on your TV and check it's tuned to the input your Blu-ray player is connected to. (So if the player is connected to the HDMI 2 socket, choose HDMI 2 as the input.)
  2. Connect the Blu-ray player to your internet source using an Ethernet cable or wireless connection via router
  3. Turn on the Blu-ray player. (If there is a disc in the player, take it out.)

Get the update:

  1. At the [Home Screen], select Setup ---> Software Update using the arrow keys on the remote control and then select Update via Internet
  2. Software Update confirmation will be displayed on the TV. Select OK using the remote control, and then press ENTER
  3. The message Update to a new software version. and the latest software version is displayed on the TV
  4. Select Start, and then press ENTER
  5. The update process starts and you see the update screen on the TV
  6. During the update, you see the progress bar "x %" and the download capacity on the TV. - The x changes to 0 and goes up to 100 during the update process
  7. The player will reboot itself and the update will continue. - Don't use or turn on yourself the player during this step
  8. You will see again the progress bar "x %" and the download capacity on the TV. - The x changes to 0 and goes up to 100 during the update process
  9. To complete the update, the player will automatically turn off and restart. - Don't use or turn off the player until the update is complete.
  10. Check the firmware version. If the version number is M32.R.0527, the firmware update was successful

Troubleshooting

What to do if you have problems updating your Blu-ray player firmware using the internet.

  • The message "Connection status cannot be confirmed" or "This device is not connected to network" shows on the TV
    The problem might be with the network connection.
    1. For wired connection: check the LAN cable is connected between the player and the internet source
    2. For wireless connection: check the wireless router is turned on and connected to Internet source
    3. In the network settings, check you have confirmed whether or not your Blu-ray player has its own IP address. (If you use a proxy server, type the IP address of the proxy you use - instead of the proxy host name - into the Proxy Server field.)
    4. Confirm both 'Physical Connection' and 'Internet Access' are OK in Network Settings ---> Network Connection Status
    5. Try the update again

  • The power went off while the update was in progress
    Turn the player on and try the update again.

  • The update has been going for over 30 minutes and hasn't finished
    1. Disconnect the AC power cord from the mains, then reconnect it after several minutes
    2. Turn on the Blu-ray Disc player
    3. Try the update procedure again
    4. You can also directly cancel the network procedure and proceed directly and perform the update via USB memory

  • While updating the message "Update failed" appears
    • Ensure there is no problem with your network connection to the Internet
    • At the "Update failed" screen, select OK to try the Update procedure again or Cancel to stop the process
    • If the symptom persists download the firmware file and perform the update via USB memory
    • You can also directly cancel the network procedure and proceed directly and perform the update via USB memory

  • After several attempts, the firmware update still does not work
    1. Download the firmware file and perform the update via USB memory

Update via USB Memory Device and your PC

We recommend you use the internet to update if you can. If not, you can use this method instead. You'll download the update to your computer, transfer it to a USB memory device, then transfer it to your Blu-ray player.

We recommend the following operating systems:

  • Windows 10 / 8.1 / 7
  • Macintosh OS X version 10.5 or later version

Download the update to your computer:

  1. Read and agree to the terms and conditions
  2. Download the file UPDATE_M32R0527.ZIP to your computer - remembering which directory you download it to
  3. Find the file on your computer, right-click on it and click Properties. Check the size is 156 MB (164,474,870 bytes)

Transfer the update files to the USB storage device:

  1. Extract the file to your computer - The extracted folder is called "UPDATE"
  2. Make sure that these four files are included inside "UPDATE" folder: MSB32-FW.BIN, MSB32-FW.ID, MSB32-FW_MB.BIN and MSB32-FW_MB.ID
  3. Connect a compatible USB storage device to your computer.FAT32 and NTFS are supported

For Windows; operating system:

  1. Go to the directory where the folder was created, and Right-click the UPDATE folder
  2. From the appearing menu, click "Send To..."
  3. Click the drive that represents your USB device (e.g. Removable Disk E:)
  4. The update folder will be copied onto your USB device.

For Mac OS; X operating system:

  1. Drag and drop UPDATE folder to the root folder of the USB device

Note: The update will not be performed if the file is not copied to the root directory of the USB device or if the name of the file is modified.

Transfer the update to your player

First get the equipment ready, then transfer the update to your player.

Get the equipment ready:

  1. Turn on your TV and check it's tuned to the input your Blu-ray player is connected to. (So if the player is connected to the HDMI 2 socket, choose HDMI 2 as the input)
  2. Turn on the Blu-ray player
  3. Make sure no other USB devices are connected to Blu-ray Disc player, if there are, please unplug it from the Blu-ray Disc Player

Transfer the update:

  1. Insert the USB storage device containing the update file into USB port located on the front panel of the player
  2. At the [Home Screen] menu, use the arrow keys on the remote control to select Setup - Software Update and then press Enter
  3. Software Update confirmation will be displayed. Select Update via USB Memory highlight OK using the remote control, and press ENTER
  4. The update starts
  5. During the update, you see the progress bar "x %" on the TV. The "x" changes to 0 and goes up to 100during the update process
  6. The player will reboot itself and the update will continue. - Don't use or turn on yourself the player during this step.
  7. You will see again the progress bar "x %" on the TV. The "x" changes to 0 and goes up to 100during the update process
  8. The player will turn off and restart automatically after the update is complete. Don't use or turn off the player until the update is complete.
  9. Take the USB device out of the player
  10. Check the firmware version. If the version number is M32.R.0527, the firmware update was successful

Troubleshooting

What to do if you have problems updating your Blu-ray player firmware using your PC and a disc.

  • I'm unable to select the option "Update via USB Memory"
    Please check the following:
    1. The USB device is properly connected to the Blu-ray Disc player
    2. The USB devices is formatted to support File System (FAT32 and NTFS)
    3. The USB devices is compatible with the Blu-ray Disc player

  • The update file I downloaded from the website cannot be extracted
    Did you download the file successfully? Try deleting the file and downloading it again.

  • The message "There is no update file" appears
    Make sure the extracted folder name is correctly named UPDATE (in capital letters) and that all the files are included inside:
    • MSB32-FW.BIN
    • MSB32-FW.ID
    • MSB32-FW_MB.BIN
    • MSB32-FW_MB.ID

  • The message "The file is corrupted" appears
    Please download the update file again and repeat the whole procedure again.
  • The update has been going for over 30 minutes and hasn't finished
    1. Disconnect the AC power cord from the mains, then reconnect it after several minutes
    2. Turn on the Blu-ray Disc player
    3. Try the update procedure again.
  • The power went off while the update was in progress
