Preparation
Check the firmware version
Your firmware may already be up to date, especially if you have a new Sound Bar. If the version number is 1.191 or higher, you do not need to update.
If you're not sure, it's easy to check which version of firmware you have:
- Turn on this unit and make sure that it is in a normal startup state.
- Connect Subwoofer. If needed, refer to the Operating Instructions about how to connect Subwoofer.
Note: A different software version is displayed depending on whether Subwoofer is connected or not. - On the remote control, press the SOUND FIELD button until Stream information is displayed on the screen, then press the (volume) - button continuously (Switches to Stream information → Sound field → Voice mode → Night mode → Software version).
- Scroll to see the Version information.
- If the software version is not the latest (1.191), an update is needed. If the version number is 1.191 or higher, you already have the most recent firmware version.
Important Notice
- Read the instructions carefully.
- Do not turn off the Sound Bar or disconnect it from the power while updating.
- Do not press any buttons, except the ones mentioned in the instructions.
- Do not unplug the power cable during the update. Doing so may cause damage and require repairs.
- Do not perform any operation until the update is complete.
Download & Install
If your computer can be connected to the Internet and to a USB storage device, you can use the computer to perform the update according to the steps below.
Step 1: Use the computer to transfer the updated software file to the USB storage device
- Click the Download button, read and agree to the terms and conditions, then click the Download button. The download will start.
- Save the file on the computer desktop or any location without changing the file name.
- Find the file on your computer, right-click it and click Properties. If the size is 3.68 MB ( 3 867 822 bytes) then the download is completed successfully.
Note: If the size is other than the 3.68 MB ( 3 867 822 bytes), the download may have failed. Delete the file from the USB drive and download it again. - Double-click the downloaded file and select Extract all, and then select Extract without changing the folder name.
- When the extract is completed, a S400_1191.zip folder will be created. Make sure that the 22CD1_A.BIN, 22CD1_M.BIN, 22CD1_R.BIN and 22CD1_T.BIN file exists in that folder.
- Insert the USB storage device into the USB port of your computer.
- Drag and drop the downloaded 22CD1_A.BIN, 22CD1_M.BIN, 22CD1_R.BIN and 22CD1_T.BIN file directly to the root of the USB storage device.
Note: If you do not save the 22CD1_A.BIN, 22CD1_M.BIN, 22CD1_R.BIN and 22CD1_T.BIN file to the root of the USB storage device without any other files, the update may fail. - Confirm that the 22CD1_A.BIN, 22CD1_M.BIN, 22CD1_R.BIN and 22CD1_T.BIN file exists in the root of the USB storage device. Once confirmed, transferring of the update file is completed and you can proceed to Step 2: Update the software of this unit.

If the correct version is not displayed, please check the version again after performing Initialize once. If you perform Initialize, the Bluetooth pairing information will also be deleted, so please perform pairing again. Depending on the connected device, it may be necessary to delete the Bluetooth device information on the connected device side and then re-pair. Also, the connection with the Subwoofer may be disconnected. In that case, check the contents of Connecting the Subwoofer manually in the instruction manual, and then connect.
Initialization method
- Press the (Power) and - (volume) buttons for 5 seconds or longer.
Note: Please check the instruction manual for details.
Notes on update operation
Incorrectly pressing the (Power), (BLUETOOTH), and + (volume) buttons at the same time may result in the activation of some of those features, depending on how the buttons were pressed. Here is how to deal with those circumstances:
- The BLUETOOTH function may be set to ON or OFF by pressing the (Power) and (BLUETOOTH) buttons. After displaying BT POWER in the display window, OFF or ON is displayed. In this case, the setting has been changed, so press this button again to return to the original setting. Alternatively, the BLUETOOTH function can be turned on by performing an initialization.
- Pressing the (BLUETOOTH) and + (volume) buttons simultaneously without pressing the (Power) may have caused a manual link operation of the subwoofer, in which a SECURE LINK message is displayed in the window, and LINK flashes. If this happens, press the (BLUETOOTH) and + (volume) buttons simultaneously again to cancel the link operation.
