What are 4K and 8K?

4K is an ultra-high-definition (Ultra HD) image format with a horizontal resolution of about 4,000 pixels.
For 8K the horizontal resolution is about 8,000 pixels.

NOTE: Pixels are the dots that make up a TV image. K means about 1,000. The more pixels, the sharper the image.
In 4K compatible TVs for example, there are 3,840 pixels (about 4K) in the horizontal direction and 2,160 (about 2K) in the vertical direction and is represented as 4K2K.

• 2K or 2K1K: Horizontal 1,920 x Vertical 1,080 = 2,073,600 pixels
• 4K or 4K2K: Horizontal 3,840 x Vertical 2,160 = 8,294,400 pixels
• 8K or 8K4K: Horizontal 7,680 x Vertical 4,320 = 33,177,600 pixels
