Frequently Asked Questions about Loop Recording



    What is loop recording?

    The loop recording mode keeps recording according to the loop recording time (5 minutes, 20 minutes, 60 minutes, 120 minutes) you set.
    When the set loop recording time comes, the oldest recorded image will be rewritten by the newest one in order.
    The illustration below is a sample image of loop recording.

    NOTE: When you set to UNLIM or  Image, 15 minute movie files will be created up to the limit of the memoriy's free space.


    How to set up loop recording.

    Press the main power button, NEXT button, or PREV button to turn on the camera.
    NOTE: The following are examples of FDR-X1000V/HDR-AS20operation.

    Set the loop recording time

    1. Press the NEXT button or PREV button to display LOOP.
    2. Select SETUP - L.OPT, then press the ENTER button.
    3. Select the setting value (5min /20 min /60 min /120 min /UNLIM.)

    How to loop record

    1. Press the NEXT button or PREV button to  turn on the  camera.
    2. Press the NEXT button or PREV button to display LOOP.
    3. Press the REC button to start shooting.
    4. To stop shooting, press the REC button during shooting.
    • When the set loop recording time is exceeded (UNLIM: when getting close to  the  limit  of the memory card capacity), the oldest recorded image will be deleted in order. Once you stop loop recording, the recorded images will not be deleted even if you start loop recording again.
    • You cannot change the loop recording time  during loop recording.


    Estimated shooting time necessary for loop recording (free space of the memory card)

    In addition to the set loop recording time, you need an estimated shooting time (free space of the memory card) for 2 files.

    NOTE:

    • You can check the estimated shooting time by setting the shooting mode to Movie mode.
    • Even if you have free spaces on a memory card according to the above estimated time, an error message may  be displayed on the screen due to image quality settings or movie format settings.
      In this case, increase more free space on the memory card or change the image quality settings or movie format settings.


    Can loop recorded videos be combined into one file?

    Import videos to your PC using Playmemories Home and combine them into one file.
